Vancouver Island fishing charters for Salmon and Halibut in
Ucluelet, and Tofino, British Columbia
2009 Salmon and Halibut fishing was amazing on the West Coast of Vancouver Island! Ucluelet and Tofino waters were teeming with Chinook(Kings) Salmon from the middle of May right through the end of September.
Columbia River Chinooks showed up in the beginning of May and fed on Minnows and Anchovies within 2 miles of Ucluelet Harbour. These hard fighting silver beauties ranged in size from 15 to 35 pounds. July was the best month for Salmon and Halibut.
A large run of local and Fraser River Chinook Salmon arrived to feed at the offshore banks and provided Highroller Charter guests with endless action on the rod and reel. Coho(Silvers)were abundant all season and were a thrill to catch on surface fly fishing gear. The Halibut fishing was consistent with limits caught most days. The largest Hali brought in was 85 pounds but the majority weighed in at 15 to 25 pounds.
Highroller Charters has fished all over Vancouver Island but we have made Ucluelet our home for the past 10 years as it has easily the most consistent Salmon and Halibut fishing anywhere in the world.
