Ucluelet,

Captain James Cook first set foot on land just 100 miles north of Ucluelet in 1778. Ucluelet, pronounced YOU-CLUE-LET, which means "safe harbor" is located on the West Coast of Vancouver Island about 30 minutes south of Tofino.

Year round population is 1652, with peak summer population growing to approximately 2700.

Located on the Estevan Coastal Plain and wedged between the sea and mountains creates a mild and humid climate unique to the West Coast of Canada.
Activities:
- Ucluelet Aquarium - View many different sea creatures indigenous to Ucluelet waters
- Fishing - Some of the best Chinook (King) Salmon and Halibut fishing anywhere in the world. Also Ling Cod, Red Snapper and Sea Bass fishing is also excellent and just a few miles from Ucluelet Harbor
- Whale watching - Gray whales, Humpback whales and Orca (killer whales) all frequent the Ucluelet area during the summer months
- Golfing - Long Beach golf course located near Tofino provides nine challenging holes and plenty of scenery
- Surfing - Long beach located about 20 minutes north of Ucluelet provides year round surfing opportunities
- Hiking, swimming, biking wildlife viewing beach-combing and storm watching are all great ways to spend a day in Ucluelet.
